The Story Behind Ursa Style

A love of sewing, family inspiration, and a tradition of craftsmanship passed down through generations.

Ursa Style was born in 2019 with the arrival of my first grandchild, Caroline. I began creating special, one-of-a-kind outfits for her, made with beautiful fabrics, attention to detail, and lots of love. When family and friends started requesting their own pieces, I decided to share my passion with others. And so, Ursa Style was born!

My love of sewing began long before that. I was born in Liberec, Czech Republic, a city known for its rich textile history. Creativity and craftsmanship were part of my family heritage. My grandmothers were talented knitters, seamstresses, and embroiderers, while my grandfather Frantisek was a tailor with his own workshop. By his side, I learned the art of sewing, starting with simple tasks and eventually creating my own clothing by age 15.

In 1990, I came to the United States as a political refugee and eventually settled in beautiful Vermont. The skills I learned growing up became an important part of my life as I sewed and knitted clothing for my family, always valuing quality, practicality, and handmade beauty.

Today, Ursa Style brings together my heritage, years of experience, and love of creating special garments. Each piece is thoughtfully made with care, celebrating the beauty of handmade craftsmanship and the joy of sharing something unique with others.
